Twists, crochet and locs

Styles twisted or looped in, and a retwist for locs you already have. Some use your own hair alone and some add hair.

Who it suits

Anyone who wants a softer, lighter style than braids, or a pause between braid sets. Twists on natural hair are the quickest way in. Locs are retwisted at the root, with your braider and a fine comb.

Added hair or your own

Two-strand twists use only your hair. Passion, spring and Senegalese twists add hair for length and volume. Crochet braids loop a pack of hair onto cornrows laid underneath.

What happens

How a twist day runs

Twists on natural hair are an afternoon; added-hair styles can run past a full day.

  1. 01
    20 min

    Step 1: Choose the style

Type of twist, length and shade, set against a photo.

  2. 02
    Up to 1 hour

    Step 2: Prep the hair

A wash and blow-dry comes first when the hair arrives unwashed or tangled.

  3. 03
    2–7 hours

    Step 3: Twist or crochet

Twisted section by section, or crocheted onto cornrows with a latch hook.

  4. 04
    20 min

    Step 4: Finish

Ends are sealed or trimmed, and a retwist or take-down date is planned.

What sets the time and the price

Before you pick a size

  • Natural or added hair

Twists on natural hair take the least time. Added-hair twists and crochet take longer.

  • Part size and length

Smaller parts and longer twists take more of the day.

  • Locs

A retwist depends on how many locs you have and how far they have grown out between visits.

Added hair is an extension, so how it sits varies with your hair and how you wear it.

Questions about this style

Do you do starter locs?

Starter locs are planned with Racquel in a consultation first. Message us and she will reply with a time.

How often is a retwist?

It depends on how fast your hair grows and how you wear your locs; your braider will suggest a schedule at the chair.

Do I bring the hair for crochet?

Either works. Tell us at booking and we'll say how many packs and which shade.

Hold a braid day

Pick your style and length, then choose a day. A deposit holds the chair and goes toward your service.
