Braids and twists, by appointment

Plan your braid day before you sit down

Choose a style, a size and a length, see how many hours it takes, then book the whole day with a braider who does that style. New clients are welcome.

  • Six braiders
  • Knotless, cornrows, twists
  • Tuesday to Saturday

The braid planner

How long will it take?

Pick the length you want the style to finish at, then read across: each row is a style and size with its hours for a full install.

Shoulder

Braids that finish at the shoulder or just below it.

  • Knotless braids, large

    2–3 hours

Larger parts and fewer braids. The shortest knotless day.

  • Knotless braids, medium

    4–6 hours

A mid-size part, planned as a day of most of the working hours.

  • Knotless braids, small

    6–8 hours

Fine parts and many braids. Plan a full day and bring something to eat.

    Consultation first
  • Twists, medium parts

    3–4 hours

Passion, spring or Senegalese twists, finished at the length you pick.

  • Feed-in cornrows, straight back

    2–3 hours

Braiding hair is fed in as each braid runs back, so the length is a choice, not a limit.

Mid-back

Braids that finish between the shoulder blades and the waist.

  • Knotless braids, large

    3–4 hours

Larger parts and fewer braids. The shortest knotless day.

  • Knotless braids, medium

    5–7 hours

A mid-size part, planned as a day of most of the working hours.

  • Knotless braids, small

    7–10 hours

    Consultation first
  • Twists, medium parts

    4–6 hours

Passion, spring or Senegalese twists, finished at the length you pick.

  • Feed-in cornrows, straight back

    2–3 hours

Braiding hair is fed in as each braid runs back, so the length is a choice, not a limit.

Waist

Braids that finish at the waist or past it. The longest days start here.

  • Knotless braids, large

    4–5 hours

Larger parts and fewer braids. The shortest knotless day.

  • Knotless braids, medium

    6–8 hours

A mid-size part, planned as a day of most of the working hours.

  • Knotless braids, small

    8–11 hours

Fine parts and many braids. Plan a full day and bring something to eat.

    A full day
  • Twists, medium parts

    5–7 hours

Passion, spring or Senegalese twists, finished at the length you pick.

  • Feed-in cornrows, straight back

    3–4 hours

Braiding hair is fed in as each braid runs back, so the length is a choice, not a limit.

Prices are set by braid size, finished length and your braider's level, and show when you book. Times assume hair that arrives washed and detangled.

A braid day

How the day goes, hour by hour

A long style is a long day. Here is how ours runs, so you can plan around it.

  1. 01
    About 30 minutes

    Step 1: Arrive and agree

Check in, set down your things, and look at the style you chose with your braider. Part size, length and shade are settled before any hair is touched.

  2. 02
    Up to an hour

    Step 2: Prep

Hair that arrives washed and detangled starts straight away. Otherwise a wash and blow-dry comes first, in sections, so the braiding starts on stretched hair.

  3. 03
    Most of the day

    Step 3: Braid

The long middle of the day: parting by hand, then braiding section by section. Ask for a break whenever you want one, and say if a part feels tight.

  4. 04
    About 30 minutes

    Step 4: Finish

Ends are shaped, beads or cuffs go on if you chose them, and your braider walks you through washing and wrapping at night.

From clients

What a long day felt like

“I booked the small size knowing it was a long day. Yididya told me the hours up front, and we finished when she said we would.”

Chance W.Small knotless braids

“I brought my own hair, and the studio had already told me how many packs. No guessing in the store.”

Tamia R.Braiding hair she brought

“I brought my daughter before school started. Rosemarie talked with her the whole time and I stayed in the chair beside her.”

Dalinda M.Children's cornrows

“Byron asked how long I planned to wear them and set the size to match. Two and a half hours, start to finish.”

Running late, and the hair you bring

The two things that change a long day most. The full policies are on their own page.

Canceling and running late

Up to 15 minutes late, we begin and finish when we finish. Up to 30, your braider may suggest smaller parts or a shorter length so the day still ends. After that, we move you to another day and your deposit holds it. Please give 48 hours' notice to move a day.

Hair you bring

Arrive with your hair washed, dry and detangled, or add a wash and blow-dry. If we ask you to bring braiding hair, we tell you the shade and how many packs.

Booking and deposits

A deposit holds your day and goes toward your service. For styles over eight hours, text us first so the day is planned.

Children and companions

From age four, with a parent or guardian beside the chair for the whole visit.
